Today, we conducted a comprehensive test of Shengdefu’s 5D (5 times diameter) drill bit with a 10.3 mm specification, focusing on its performance in machining 45# mold steel. The test conditions were as follows:
- Spindle Speed: 2100 rpm
- Feed Rate: F400
- No pre-drilled center hole required
- Using the G81 cycle, drilling to a depth of 30 mm
We aimed to determine how many holes this drill bit could drill and pushed the limits by continuously increasing the speed. Here’s a detailed account of our test:
Test Setup:
- Drill Bit: Shengdefu 5D, 10.3 mm
- Material: 45# Mold Steel
- Spindle Speed: 2100 rpm
- Feed Rate: F400
- Drilling Depth: 30 mm
- Cycle: G81
- Pre-drilled Center Hole: Not required
Test Process:
We started the test by setting up the drill bit and the material on the CNC machine. The drill bit was positioned and the G81 cycle was initiated. We monitored the drilling process closely, gradually increasing the speed to see how the drill bit performed under different conditions.
Results:
As we continued to drill, we observed that the drill bit maintained its performance without any significant issues. The holes were clean and precise, and the drill bit showed minimal wear. However, we eventually ran out of test material, which forced us to stop the test and inspect the drill bit.
Upon inspection, we found that the drill bit had only minor wear, demonstrating its exceptional durability and quality. Based on our observations, we believe that this drill bit can drill up to 1000 holes without requiring regrinding.
Additional Insights:
If the same material is used but with a 3D (3 times diameter) drill bit, the lifespan is expected to increase by at least one fold. This further highlights the superior quality and performance of Shengdefu’s drill bits.
